HOW WE WORK TOGETHER?
-
This varies greatly depending on your goals and circumstances. Some people find significant relief in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our timeline as needed. You're always in control of when you feel ready to conclude therapy.
-
Progress often comes in small, gradual shifts rather than dramatic overnight changes. You might notice you're handling stress differently, sleeping better, feeling more hopeful, or having clearer thoughts about your situation. We'll regularly discuss what's working and what might need adjustment.
-
Sometimes, yes. As we explore difficult topics or make changes in your life, you might initially feel more emotional or unsettled. This is often a sign that important work is happening. I'll support you through these periods and help you develop coping strategies.
-
Your first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your current concerns, your goals, and what you hope to achieve. I'll explain my approach and answer any questions you have. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with—we'll move at your pace.
-
Sessions are typically 45 minutes long. Initially, I often recommend weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a therapeutic relationship. As you progress, we may adjust to bi-weekly or monthly sessions based on your needs and goals.
-
Bring whatever feels most pressing to you—there's no right or wrong topic. Whether it's a specific situation you're struggling with, feelings you can't shake, or big life questions you're pondering, it all has value. If you're unsure, I'll help guide our conversations.
-
Feeling nervous or unsure is completely normal! Many people worry about awkward silences or not knowing how to begin. I'm here to help guide the conversation and create a comfortable environment. Sometimes the most meaningful sessions start with "I don't even know where to begin."
